Church
St.Kentigern's Church is situated in the centre of Irthington.
The Parish is
part of 'The Ring of Parishes' comprising of Crosby-on-Eden,
Irthington and
Scaleby and these form part of a larger grouping of parishes
within the
Eden,Gelt and Irthing Team Ministry in the Carlisle Diocese
and the Rural
Deanery of Brampton.
St.Kentigern's Church is a Norman building, erected in the
twelfth century
and has later Victorian Gothic additions, including a
clocktower which
chimes every quarter of an hour! The Church was thoroughly
restored about
thirty years ago.
Services are held in the Parish Church every Sunday. These are
as follows:
First Sunday: 6.30 p.m. Evensong (Book of Common Prayer)
Second Sunday: 11.00 a.m. Parish Communion (Common Worship,
Third Sunday: 11.00 a.m. Order One in contemporary language)
Fourth Sunday: 11.00 a.m. Family Service.
Everyone is welcome at all the Services and families are
especially welcome
to the Family Service on the Fourth Sunday of each month.
